{"id":5774,"date":"2013-12-16T15:59:48","date_gmt":"2013-12-16T22:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philborges.com\/blog\/?p=5774"},"modified":"2014-03-05T17:57:29","modified_gmt":"2014-03-06T00:57:29","slug":"ownership-at-soulfood-books-stays-in-the-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.philborges.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/16\/ownership-at-soulfood-books-stays-in-the-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Ownership at SoulFood Books Stays in the Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" id=\"docs-internal-guid-2d4c9ad0-fcee-b024-03df-71777391cf06\" class=\"lead\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.philborges.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/29\/inner-worlds-supportive-communities\/\">Sara and Clint<\/a>, the previous owners of <a href=\"http:\/\/soulfoodcoffeehouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SoulFood Books<\/a> recently had twin girls! \u00a0They decided to concentrate on raising their family and have turned over ownership of SoulFood to long time customers Makia and Kevin. <!--more-->Still a large part of the community, I often see Clint stopping in to visit and help out.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/82029631?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" height=\"366\" width=\"650\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Makia describes SoulFood as a place where people can come out of their hiding\u2014a bridge where people on different paths can meet. \u201cThis is a place that allows me to be myself\u201d is the phrase I have been hearing from almost everyone I meet here.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Makia offered a job to Adam just before his mother <a href=\"http:\/\/www.philborges.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/18\/facing-death-adams-mother-passes-away\/\">passed away<\/a>. \u00a0Unfortunately the timing wasn\u2019t right and Adam said he would prefer to wait. \u00a0She sees Adam as \u2018a sensitive bright shining being with a huge heart\u2019 who can \u2018tune right in to what people are feeling\u2019. \u00a0Like me she believes that Adam has the natural ability to be a great psychologist or a counselor for kids one day.<\/p>\n<p>Listening to Makia and being at SoulFood reminds me once again how important supportive relationships and supportive communities are for our well being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sara and Clint, the previous owners of SoulFood Books recently had twin girls! \u00a0They decided to concentrate on raising their family and have turned over ownership of SoulFood to long time customers Makia and Kevin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":5775,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[523,501],"tags":[124,601,551,546,550],"class_list":["post-5774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-ch-5-importance-of-community","category-crazywise","tag-community","tag-crazywise","tag-makia","tag-soulfood","tag-support"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
