While Adam was in the hospital after having his jaw broken, the police came to his hospital room so he could identify his attackers from mug shots. Adam told me that he was getting out of the hospital that evening.

Back in May, I got a very unsettling call from Adam letting me know that he was beat up on the beach in Maui, and that he was in the hospital recovering from surgery. His jaw had been broken in three places and several of his teeth had been kicked out.

Adam became homeless in Seattle this past winter. So when someone offered him a chance to house-sit in Maui, he sold his car and headed for warmer weather. By the end of January, his house sitting services were no longer needed and he found himself homeless and sleeping on the beach.

Ron is finding meditation and his time with Adam increasingly helpful in dealing with his ‘Moral Injury’ from the war. Over time they both complete two 10-day Vipassana Meditation retreats, which are very helpful in furthering their healing process.
