Yes definitely we would like Stirring The Fire to be used by women and men of all ages to find opportunities to get involved in the women's issues they feel most strongly about. There are organizations that offer volunteer opportunities on our site now. Please visit the Take Action section of Stirring The Fire and let me know if you find what you are looking for. More organizations are being added all the time. I would love to hear any feedback you have.

i think the above is a wonderful idea….. when i was in college a million years ago… no one did semester abrades.. did internships…. just not on the radar at that time…. so i missed out on some incredible opportunities that younger people are taking advantage of now…

However don’t forget opportunities for older mature woman… like myself at 52… I’ve travelled… im a photographer.. but i have not been pushed to experience some of these unusual and life changing places,… and would also love the opportunity to come volunteer.. not for a semester but for a time period..

i would love to go on a trip to get involved on something with womens issues.. give a hand.. and also to do what i love. photography.. im a womans woman. and would love this

I attended Antioch Education Abroad’s Comparative Women’s Studies in Europe Program in 1997 and it’s still going strong…stronger in fact as they’ve now added”gender studies” to the content area. It’s a terrific program that puts students in touch with leaders, activists, scholars, etc – discussions with such folks become the classroom as students move through 4 countries.

“Comparative Women’s and Gender Studies in Europe (WGSE) is designed for students interested in exploring women’s, gender, queer, and sexuality issues and feminist theory as they earn 16 semester credits while traveling across Europe.”
